I heard a CloneCD image constists of three files. Is that true?

CloneCD first consults the .ccd file to gather informations about the burning process and then burns the image using the .img and .sub file. .ccd-, .img- and .sub-file have to be in the same folder on the hard drive and have to be named with the same prefix (e.g. IMAGE.ccd, IMAGE.img, IMAGE.sub).
